Kansas State University Admissions
Kansas State has fairly liberal requirements for freshman admissions. Applicants can meet admissions requirements in one of three ways. They can score a 21 or better on the ACT or a 980 or better on the SAT. They can rank in the top third of their class as determined by GPA. Or, they can the Kansas pre-college curriculum with a GPA of 2.0 (out of state residents must achieve a 2.5 GPA).
Approximately 10 percent of freshmen who are admitted gain admission under exceptions to these three rules.
A non-refundable $30 application fee applies for all applicants. Transcripts are to be mailed directly from the applicant’s high school, and tests are to be mailed directly from the testing service that administers them.
Applications to the undergraduate programs have no set deadline, but students are encouraged to apply early in their senior year of high school. There is an application fee of $30. In addition to the application form and fee, students must provide transcripts and test scores (preferably ACT). Applications can be submitted on-line. Kansas residents are guaranteed admission to Kansas State if they achieve a score of 21 or higher on ACT, rank in the top third of their graduating class, or complete the Kansas pre-college curriculum with a 2.0 GPA. Students who do not meet any of these criteria may still be admitted under special considerations. Students applying from out of state will have different criteria.
Graduate students must provide the following for admissions to the graduate school: application, fee, and transcripts. A graduate application has an application fee of $30. Individual programs set their own requirements, and students should consult directly with the program.
